As an emotional eater I am learining I have to deal with the reasons I overeat. I am now at 50+ years old learning how to do that.
Here is an exerpt taken from an article I recently read on releasing emotions.
When you feel an emotion it is able to move through you and be released.
With acceptance itself, we can begin to naturally let go. It is what we resist and deny that persists!
What we deny does not go away, and will inevitably leak into our reality in the circumstances, people and events we attract. Repressed emotions distort our energy, and cloud the filters with which we create our world.
#1 Myth of the Law of Attraction
One mistake many people make when they first hear about the law of attraction is to start denying, controlling, judging or repressing their 'negative' feelings for fear of any negative consequences they may attract.
It is only when feelings are repressed however that they become problematic and toxic and leak into our world affecting our reality in not so pleasant ways, or come at us as a mirror in the people and experiences you attract.
When we accept and honor our feelings, they are naturally expressed and released. In the light of love and acceptance we can let go of feelings that do not serve us that much more easily.
Of course, it's important to first clear the actual beliefs that can lie at the core of emotional patterns and responses in your life.
Releasing Emotions
This might sound pretty obvious, but feeling your feelings is a fast way to release them. It's amazing how much energy is expended in avoiding and repressing our feelings, which can lead to ill-health, addictions, constriction and numbness.
Feeling your feelings doesn't mean indulging in them or giving them undue attention if they do not serve you (i.e. nip that self-pity in the bud!), nor does it mean venting them inappropriately at someone (writing them down would be far 'cleaner'). Feeling your feelings enables them to move through you and be expressed. It takes more energy to stuff emotions down than to experience them. Acknowledging, accepting and feeling an emotion will enable its release. Sensing where they are in your body can help to access and explore them.
There are many techniques for releasing your emotions, everything from the Sedona Method, release technique and the Emotoinal Freedom Technique.
External resources such as music, beauty and exercise and internal resources - your thoughts, choices, focus and imagination - can all be utilized.
Forgiveness of self and others is an incredibly powerful way to release and transform whole clusters of emotion which I'll be exploring in a future issue.
Forgiveness is the ultimate mind-body-soul detox and can liberate you from toxic emotions and draining attachments.
Appreciation and gratitude are also very effective in shifting your emotional resonance and disengaging lower vibration states.
You can also write them down. Journaling your feelings is an effective way to express and release them. I suggest burning the paper afterwards for a complete release - you'll feel a significant sense of freedom!
Beliefs are keystone, and the great thing about beliefs is that you can change them, and choose those aligned to your visions and dreams and all that you wish to be, do and have.
To be really, you want to get the heart of your emotional responses by identifying the limiting beliefs that lie at their root and releasing the emotional charge that surrounds and compounds them and triggers the unconscious emotional reactions.

I have been going to a dietician that deals more with why I over eat rather than a diet plan. I am an emotional eater and I have to relearn ways to deal with my emotions rather than eating my feelings away. I have been meditating for a number of years however I havent been using mediatation as a way of dealing and releasing some of my feelings that I tend to supress. I am finding this approach more and more effictive as I do it. I thought I would share an article that talks about basic meditation for any one who hasnt tried it as a weight loss tool. I spend 15 to 20 minutes a day when ever I feel really stressed about something. I let that feeling come up in my mediation and I feel it however I dont judge it, I just feel it and release it. I am finding this very liberating. I hope it will help you tool
Simple Breathing Meditation to Relax Your Body and Calm Your MindI by Felix Makmur
meditation actually refers to a state where your body and mind are consciously relaxed and focused. To reach this blissful state, all you need to do is just be present and allow all the thoughts and feelings to be there without identifying with them in any ways. Here is a simple guided breathing meditation that you can try to calm your mind in a hectic situation:
1. First of all, close your eyes, keep your body erect and sit on any comfortable position. Start to follow your breath naturally. "Breathing in, I know that I'm breathing in. Breathing out, I know that I'm breathing out." You just need to know and understand the general characteristic of breath, either long or short, fine or coarse, etc. You don't need to overfocus or overconcentrate on the breath as exclusion of everything else, nor to focus on nostril tip, upper lip, or abdomen. Just let the breath flows naturally and relax.
2. If a thought or feeling appears, just let it go. "Let it go" means just let it be there without interrupting it in any way. Allow it to come and do whatever it wants, but you don't need to pay attention to it. It's just a thought after all. You don't need to squeeze or suppress your mind in any way. Just let it be there by itself.
3. Next, just relax the tightness and tension in your mind and body. This tension is the form of craving that manifests in both your mind and body. We can see this tightness and tension clearly just after the mind starts to wobble around. This is how the "I like it or I don't like it" mind arises and creates huge amount of suffering in our life due to our attachment and craving to these fleeting phenomenas. Therefore, we just need to relax and let go all the tightness and tension and feel our mind opened and expanded in space of infinite emptiness.
4. After that, you can notice the tight mental fist wrapped around the sensation (feeling) and just let it be there, let it float like the bubble in the air. You don't need to verbalize it or make it more than what it is. It's just a feeling anyway. Let it be there by itself and just be aware of it without any resistance. Sonn you will find all the pain and unpleasant feeling in your body and will dissolve by itself without you doing anything.
5. Finally, re-establish your mindfulness and allow the breath to become predominant again. After that SMILE!!! DON'T FORGET TO SMILE. Smile can relax all the tension in your facial muscles and make your face more calm and serene. Just look at the Buddha statue. Every Buddha Statue is smiling, isn't it?
Take nothing seriously. Just let go, relax, and breathe...
You can also laugh when you see how crazy your mind is. Don't try to control the feelings with thoughts, because it doesn't work and it hurts. The source of suffering is trying to change and verbalize the feelings with thoughts. Feeling is just a feeling, thought is just a thought. If you can, try to examine passively these links of dependent origination: after contact arises, feeling arises (Pleasant, unpleasant or neutral), after feeling arises, craving arises (I like it or I don't like it /tension in body and mind), shortly after craving arises, clinging arises (the thoughts about why it's there and how to change it). If you understand this, you can let go more easily and joyfully.

I have done a lot of reasearch on this Hoodia plant and have never found a place till now that offers a money back guarantee. It is all natural and I like that and its a pill no big deal..
